Occupational Safety and Health – OSH
Safety of employees is a priority at SHAL and the organisation has well established policies focused on occupational safety and health. As an employer, we strive to provide a work environment that is safe and injury free. We have adopted an Occupational Safety and Health Management System. The management system comprises of systems and procedures that enable injury and accident prevention at work. In line with the legal requirement of the Republic of Zimbabwe to ensure health and safety at workplaces, we strive to ensure that every employee safely returns home to their loved ones without being injured whilst in the line of duty.
We believe that all incidents that impact safety and health in the workplace are preventable. We are in the process of transitioning from OSHAS 18001:2007 to ISO 45001:2018. Our operations require that we classify significant hazards and risks as well as design critical controls to prevent disastrous incidents. In all departments, we ensure that occupational health and safety measures are established and that our workers follow occupational health and safety policies.
We continue to promote safe working practices through behaviour based safety, weekly safety talks, trainings, and enforcing reports on near-misses. We make every effort to attain zero harm in our processes and ensure that our workers are safe in all work related tasks.
