Orange Day in Support of KidzCan
As Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited we join KidzCan in commemorating Orange Month. Every year in the month of February we join KidzCan in raising awareness on childhood cancer and fundraise towards drugs and welfare needs of childhood cancer patients and their families.
As a corporate citizen and a commercial enterprise our sponsorships and donations are primarily to organizations that operate in health, education, youth, environment, sports, social development, arts and culture. Donations in the field of health are focused on supporting credible institutions in a bid to foster critical health care for under privileged members of our society with focus on women and children.
Our partnership with KidzCan began in 2012 with beverage donations for the Parirenyatwa Hospital A4 Special Ward children’s lunch at Greenwood Park. We continued with beverage sponsorship for their main events in 2013. 1n 2014 we joined the orange month campaign and this has been a key highlight on our staff event calendar annually.
Our staff voluntarily wear orange to raise awareness and we collectively donate to KidzCan per individual who comes to work wearing orange. These campaigns are themed with various calls to action that are in line with the KidzCan annual theme that is lace up for charity, go bold go bandana just to mention a few.
Over the years our product and financial sponsorship has been at least USD$17 000.00. On the 22 nd of February this year all members of staff dressed in orange, in addition to orange wrist bands procured from KidzCan. We took the campaign a step further this year with staff donating to KidzCan at a personal level. They brought admission packs in an interdepartmental challenge. These packs contain toothbrushes, tooth paste, towels, soaps and petroleum jelly.
The company handed over a cheque of $8000.00 at the launch of the 2019 th Orange Month which was held at Island Hospice last week. “As I present our 2019 donation, this is a commitment on behalf of the 1200 Schweppes Holdings employees that we will keep holding hands with KidzCan as we fight childhood cancer in Zimbabwe”- Mrs. Unaiswi Nyikadzino- Commercial and Public Affairs Director Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited.
Happy Orange Month!
